This room appeared on the early floor plans as a "Public Hall" and later as the Chapel. By the time of this photo, space was tight and the room had been taken over as the drawing room. Note the stained glass in the arched windows and the many light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. This is one of the few areas in the building not gutted in the early 1960's renovation. The original wainscoting (with many layers of paint) survives, as does the coved ceiling (although hidden from view by the dropped ceiling).
